• 1pm-1:30pm: Grading Time Savers Session
  • Faculty will get tips for managing the gradebook in Canvas in order to save time grading. We will also take a look at ways to clean up and organize the Canvas gradebook to make it easier to navigate for faculty and students.
• 1:30pm-2:30pm: Instructional Support Workshop Q&A Discussion
  • Faculty will have time to ask any Canvas, teaching and learning questions and get help from the Instructional Technologist, Faculty Learning Coordinators, and other faculty.

• 1pm-1:30pm: Creating & Managing Course Videos – Panopto & Screencast-O-Matic Session with Allison Hughes (Instructional Technologist)
  • We will go over the best practices for recording, storing and sharing course videos using Panopto and Screencast-O-Matic.

• Description: The Faculty Learning Program (FLP) is coming back to Cañada starting Spring 2023! The FLP is a professional learning program designed for faculty to: deepen their understanding of how people learn, develop strategies to support student learning in [STEM] lecture courses, and reflecting on their teaching practices. Participation involves a 10-month commitment during the academic year, and cultivates a learning community among participants. Come and learn more about the FLP and recruitment next steps.

Canvas Rubrcis and Grading Training Recording (via Panopto)

• Description: This hands-on, virtual workshop will focus on Canvas rubrics and grading. The first half of this workshop will provide a brief overview of the uses of rubrics, the types of rubrics, and how to build a rubric in Canvas for grading. The second half will allow time for participants to experiment with building their own rubrics in Canvas with support from Instructional Technologists!

• Description: As we saw in the October Flex Day session, the State Chancellor’s Office has started to give out more details about their zero-cost pathways grants. In this workshop, we’ll present the plans for the Phase 1 funds ($20,000), and the latest ideas for plans for Phase 2 and/or Phase 3…as well as get your input for these plans. Come join us!

Learn about the available supports and resources, and consider becoming an advocate. Bring your lunch and learn about our updated website for foster youth students, a statement of support that you can include in your course syllabi, some available funding, and other activities that the Resource Opportunities for Success and Engagement (ROSE) committee have been drafting. • Description: The African American Male Education Network & Development (A²MEND) is a nonprofit led by African American male educators, who, according to the group’s website,  “voluntarily use their professional expertise to operate a statewide mentoring program for Black male college students.” For the last sixteen years, A²MEND has organized the nation’s largest (if not the only) conference focused on African American male community college student success and celebrating Black excellence--a conference that routinely draws more than 1000 students and professionals. A team of Cañada students, staff, and faculty attended the conference for the first time in March. Please join us for a report-back session during which we will recap the highlights of the conference and discuss how the lessons learned there can be applied here on the Cañada campus to increase the success and retention of our Black male students (these learned lessons can be applied to the success and retention of all students).
